LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Governmental Utility Authority customers in Lake County were advised Sunday of a system-wide boil-water notice after more than 800 people were impacted by frozen pipes that morning.

A total of 876 customers were affected by the outage, which prompted emergency calls at the Valencia Terrace, Venetian Village, Grand Terrace, and Fairways at Mt. Plymouth drinking-water systems, FGUA said in a news release.

Service interruptions therein were caused by frozen lines due to the frigid weather, the release states, adding all water plants have returned to normal operations and water service should have been restored by the time of this writing. However, during the boil-water notice, FGUA customers are instructed to bring water to a rolling boil of at least one minute before using it for cooking, drinking, and washing dishes.

The notice is expected to be in effect for one to two business days, according to the release. It will be lifted once testing of water samples indicates it’s safe to drink, the release states.

For more information, FGUA Customer Service can be reached Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., by calling 352-633-9700.
