Cat dies in Marion County house fire

Units respond to 10,000 block of SW 52nd Court

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County firefighters found a cat dead in a home that caught fire Thursday night near Ocala.

Units were dispatched at 8:37 p.m. to the 10000 block of SW 52nd Court when a 911 caller reported the front porch of the home was on fire, Marion County Fire Rescue said on social media.

Liberty Station No. 32 firefighters got there within three minutes, searching the structure multiple times while crews from Friendship Station No. 21, Majestic Oaks Station No. 23, Marion Oaks Station No. 24, and Shady Station No. 16 soon arrived on scene to help suppress the fire, according to the post.

The fire was brought under control by 9:10 p.m., the post states, adding no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
