Steamroller kills man during rollover in Lake County, troopers say

Incident happened near County Road 455 and Hancock Road

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was killed by a steamroller in Lake County on Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a release, troopers said the incident happened near County Road 455 and Hancock Road around 11:39 a.m.

At the time, the man was trying to drive the construction steamroller up an embankment on private property, but the equipment soon overturned, troopers added.

As a result, the driver was struck by the steamroller as it rolled over, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the release shows.

Meanwhile, the driver was identified only as a 35-year-old man from Ocala.

The crash remains under investigation. No additional information has been provided at this time.
