KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A Kissimmee police officer has been arrested after an investigation that stems back to December, according to the department.

In a release, police said that the officer — identified as Lt. Lacey Santone — was arrested on Thursday and faces charges of two “computer-related crimes.”

Investigators announced that the case began after an officer came forward on Dec. 12 with more information related to a closed internal affairs investigation.

“The criminal investigation found that Santone accessed the Kissimmee Police Department’s internal camera system, both on and off duty, multiple times for personal reasons,” the release reads. “While viewing the security system footage, Santone used her personal cell phone to record the video and shared it with two officers, neither of whom had access to the secured system.”

As such, a warrant was issued for Santone’s arrest, and she voluntarily surrendered and was booked into the Osceola County Jail, police added.

“The actions of the officer who came forward and those who cooperated in the investigation demonstrated our department’s core values and underscore the integrity and professionalism we expect, including holding each other accountable to maintain public trust,” Chief Charles Broadway said.

Meanwhile, Santone was relieved of her duties and placed on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the criminal case and an administrative investigation.
