Hundreds of students could be rezoned in Orange County School Board plan

Families can provide feedback through an online survey

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The Orange County School Board is considering a targeted rezoning plan that could affect 321 students across six schools, district officials said Monday. The proposal comes weeks after the district voted to close seven schools, adding to parents’ concerns about potential disruptions.

The rezoning, aimed at balancing student enrollment in specific areas, would shift students from their current schools to new ones. Under the plan:

  • Orange Center Charter could move 213 students across three schools:
    • 50 to Catalina Elementary School
    • 50 to Rock Lake Elementary School
    • 113 to Washington Shores Elementary School
  • Winding Meadows zone could move 108 students:
    • 16 from Wolf Lake Middle to Kelly Park K-8
    • 42 from Wolf Lake Elementary to Kelly Park K-8
    • 50 from Zellwood Elementary to Wolf Lake Elementary

The district stressed that no decisions are final. The rezoning plan will go through additional workshops and a public hearing before any students are moved. Families can provide feedback through a district survey, which is open until 7:30 a.m. on April 14.
