Originally, neighbors told News 6 a teenager was shot, and witnesses saw investigators take someone into custody steps from the scene. Residents said they are shaken and asking how something so violent could happen in their neighborhood.
Orange County resident Elmer Planter said it’s sad to see that happen to anyone. He said what started as a quiet night quickly turned into a major crime scene after the teen suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Planter said he heard two shots, went outside, and saw a person lying across the street on his back.
He said deputies rushed to the scene, and someone he believes is also a teenager was taken into custody. He said he believes the suspect lives across the street.
At that home, a relative said the alleged shooter lives there and was arrested in connection with the shooting.
The relative also said the two teens knew each other.
