‘It looks like Jenga!’ Florida home gets lifted over 20 feet in viral video

Viral home located in Largo neighborhood

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A home along Florida’s Gulf coast is raising eyebrows after the owner decided to have it lifted 24 feet into the air.

According to WFLA, the home is situated on several wooden columns in a neighborhood in Pinellas County, and it’s so tall because the owner is building a second floor.

“It looks like Jenga under the house!” News 6 anchor Ginger Gadsden said in a reaction to the home.

Per the outlet, the owner — who chose to remain anonymous — explained that after the 2024 hurricanes, she suffered flooding and didn’t want to go through it again.

WFLA also reports that the process to lift the home has been underway for over a year now, including the steps to sign a contract and get permits.

“They will go in and they will form columns around this house, and when it’s all structurally engineered and where they’re supposed to be, then they’ll build the beams, and then they’ll start removing the columns,” said Kristi Robinson, who works with Modern House and Building Movers, the company behind the house lift.

In all, WFLA reports they learned that it cost $575,000 to lift the property. The project is apparently expected to finish in December.
