SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A Seminole County nonprofit that supports youth athletes is calling on the community to help find a new place to store and distribute sports equipment.
Sports 4 the Kids (S4TK) provides free donated athletic gear and raises funds to help pay league registration fees for children to participate in local sports programs.

For 12 years, S4TK has operated out of a donated warehouse space from Seminole County Public Schools, but recently the nonprofit learned the property was being sold.
“We’ve been very grateful for SCPS, which has provided us the location,” said Danny Trosset, president and executive director of Sports 4 the Kids. “Unfortunately, this building is being sold. So they’ve given us a notice that we need to be out by Aug. 1.”
Currently, the nonprofit’s sports equipment is stored at a facility in Lake Mary.
Trosset said S4TK is looking for approximately 1,000 square feet of preferably air-conditioned space in a Central Florida Location.
“The challenge is if we don’t have an air-conditioned space, some of our sports equipment falls apart,” Trosset said. “The humidity quickly deteriorates some of our sports equipment.”
Elijah Allen is a teenager who previously sought help through Sports 4 the Kids and wants to see the nonprofit find help from the community.
“When I was younger, we weren’t able to get that much sports equipment, and I feel like it’s very important what they’re doing,” Allen said.
Trosset said he’s hopeful to find a donated space or one at a reduced cost, so scholarship opportunities for young athletes won’t be affected.
“I know our community wants to give back,” Trosset said. “We’re counting our blessings and hopeful that we can find a new home.”
