Rainbow River back open after alligator involved in snorkeler bite is located

Marion County deputies assisted FWC in locating the alligator after the river was closed, authorities said.

MARION COUNTY, Fla – The Rainbow River has reopened following a recent closure after a snorkeler was bitten by an alligator, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they assisted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in locating the alligator involved. The alligator was removed from the area, authorities said.
