PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – One Florida deputy underwent a “rite of passage” after he handled his first alligator call, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
In a release this week, the sheriff’s office said that the deputy — who is originally from the northeast — was supplied with “a leash, tape, patience, and some helpful citizens,” which was everything he needed to get the reptile to safer waters.
“No matter the size, gators can be dangerous,” the release reads. “If you find one in a situation where it could hurt others or itself, please call for help.”
