Energized Florida Gators ready to work

Jon Sumrall’s team begins fall camp

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Gators kick off fall camp Wednesday, Aug. 5. It’s their first under head coach Jon Sumrall.

Even before practice No. 1, the Gators have gotten stronger.

Sumrall told reporters that collectively, his players are lifting 14,000 pounds more at this point than they were in January. It’s a colossal improvement and it’s thanks in part to Florida’s renovated weight room and the Gators’ rejuvenated attitude.

Sumrall and his staff have brought new energy to the football building as they try to lift the Gators back to national prominence and SEC dominance.

When speaking to reporters, Sumrall and his staff referred to the Gator glory days of Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer.

Their goal is to recreate those innovative and electric offenses.

The work begins for the energized Gators now. They’ll kick off the season Sept. 5 against FAU at the Swamp.
