Missing boy, 5, found in Deltona pool, dies at hospital

Treus Boone pronounced dead at Halifax Health

DELTONA, Fla. – A 5-year-old boy died Tuesday evening after he was found underwater in a pool, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.

The child, Treus Boone, was reported missing by members of his family, and deputies arrived at their home on Waco Drive in Deltona just before 5:50 p.m., officials said.

Treus' father called 911 after waking up from a nap and realizing his son was not there. Family members said they searched the house but couldn’t find Treus.

“The first deputy to arrive heard someone yell, ‘He’s in the pool!’ and a family member jumped into the water to pull Treus out,” a news release from the Sheriff’s Office said.

The boy’s family, along with first responders, tried to revive him with CPR. Treus was taken to Halifax Health, but he didn’t survive. Hospital officials pronounced the child dead.

There were no indications of suspicious circumstances or foul play at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
