Costco issues safety alert for Kirkland wine bottles that could shatter without warning

Costco has warned members about a potential safety hazard involving its Kirkland Signature Prosecco, citing risks of bottles unexpectedly shattering.

The retailer has issued a consumer alert for bottles purchased from late April to the end of August. The affected products may shatter without warning while unopened, posing a safety risk to consumers.

The affected bottles were sold in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Costco advises customers who purchased the affected prosecco to take specific safety precautions when disposing of the bottles. Members should wrap unopened bottles in paper towels, place them in a plastic bag and dispose of them.

For those seeking reimbursement, Costco is offering a full refund. Members can take their recall notice to any Costco location to receive compensation.
