Ocala man accused of raping, impregnating 13-year-old girl

Suspect arrested after baby's birth, paternity test

Avisus Sedale Davis

OCALA, Fla. – An Ocala man was arrested Tuesday after a DNA test proved that he raped and impregnated a girl who was 13 years old at the time, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

The victim said her sister called Avisus Sedale Davis, 28, for a ride home from school in January 2016. Davis picked up the girls and told them he would need to get money for gas.

While at Davis' residence, the victim went to use the bathroom while her sister went to a nearby store. Davis said he would stay at the house because the bathroom door often gets stuck and he didn't want the victim to be locked in the bathroom without a way out, deputies said.

Davis pulled the door open to help the victim out of the bathroom, then raped her, according to the arrest report. Deputies said the victim was punched in the face when she verbally and physically resisted.

The girl reported the attack to authorities in November 2016, after giving birth to a baby.

Davis denied knowing the girl or her sister and initially refused to submit a DNA sample for a paternity test, the report said.

A DNA swab was collected on Feb. 1 and sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement laboratory. The results of that test came back on May 4, and they indicated that there was a 99.9 percent chance that Davis was the father of the victim's child, according to a report.

Davis was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual assault of a victim under 18 years old, cruelty toward child - impregnate child under 16, possession of marijuana and two probation violations.
