ORLANDO, Fla. -

An Orange County sheriff's deputy was involved in a carsh Saturday night, the Sheriff's Office said.

The crash happened around 7:50 p.m. at the intersection of John Young Parkway and Americana Boulevard in Orlando.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Deputy Bertha Osorio, 23, was heading north on John Young Parkway in her marked Orange County patrol car with emergency equipment activated as a Kia headed south in the center lane and a Nissan headed south in the right lane.

For an unknown reason, Osorio lost control of her patrol car, which then traveled through the grass median and into the southbound lanes of John Young Parkway, troopers said.

The front right of the patrol car struck the front left of the Kia. Troopers said the Nissan was unable to stop and the front of the Nissan struck the right side of the patrol car.

Osorio was trapped until Fire Rescue personnel cut the roof off the patrol car, News 6 learned.

Troopers said Osorio suffered serious injuries. The other two drivers suffered minor injuries.

The northbound and southbound lanes of John Young Parkway were closed.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
