ORLANDO, Fla.Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a $115.1 billion budget for Florida in Wildwood Monday, but not everything lawmakers wanted made it past the governor.

DeSantis released a veto list that included $1.35 billion in cuts between all the appropriations bills, including $567 million in line-item vetoes in the budget. Those were largely to local programs, but some statewide big items too.

As governor, DeSantis has the power of line-item veto on the budget, which was passed by the Florida Legislature and goes into effect July 1.

Among regular budget items, DeSantis vetoed a $1.3 million recurring base appropriations project for public radio stations and $4,444,811 for public television stations. The cuts come at a time when public radio and television are at risk of also losing federal funding.

DeSantis also slashed $200 million in funds to acquire land for the planned Florida Wildlife Corridor.

He also cut $3.1 million to help with pay for public defenders in critical areas.

In Central Florida, $5 million to expand West Shore Jr. Sr. High School in Brevard County was cut.

Some $4.3 million to dredge parts of Sykes Creek in Brevard County was also vetoed, along with $900,000 for septic-to-sewer assistance for residents living along Sykes Creek.

In Orange County, the governor vetoed $7.5 million to help Orange County make improvements to the Wedgefield Water and Wastewater system, which the county is seeking to take over after years of complaints from residents.

Public safety training centers in Daytona Beach and Oviedo also lost funds because of the governor’s veto pen.

Kissimmee lost $500,000 for stormwater improvements to reduce flooding.

DeSantis also vetoed $400,000 for the Transition House Homeless Veterans Program in Osceola County.

In Orange County, he vetoed $200,000 for a Samaritan Resource Center program to help homeless people get job training and assistance with housing.
