PLANT CITY, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis kicked off a new sales tax holiday on hunting, fishing and camping at a store in Plant City Monday.
From now until the end of the year, Florida is exempting the sales tax on hunting and fishing equipment, including guns and ammunition.
A list of items that qualify for the exemption is on the Florida Department of Revenue website.
In addition, DeSantis announced that the state would be offering half-price passes on its public shooting ranges through the end of the year, in honor of America’s 250th birthday and the Second Amendment.
“We are inviting you to exercise your rights at one of (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s) public shooting sports ranges,” DeSantis said.
The governor said all of the public ranges will be half price on Oct. 12 for Columbus Day and Nov. 9 for Veterans Day.
There will be discounts for specific ranges throughout the next few months.
The state is also cutting the price of its $500 five-year gold sportsman’s licenses to $250.
“Cutting those costs in honor of the founding of the Republic and our constitutional right to keep and bear arms,” DeSantis said. Floridians from all walks of life have been able to enjoy our great natural resources and want to continue to reduce costs for our families so that they can enjoy the great outdoors."
