SARASOTA, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference Wednesday morning in Sarasota to discuss statewide progress with auto-insurance reforms.
DeSantis was joined at The Westin Sarasota by Florida Insurance Commissioner Michael Yaworsky, whom the governor said has secured nearly $1 billion in auto-insurance rebates for Progressive policyholders alone as Florida rates have seen promising decreases.
”The average across Florida policyholders is going to be a $300 rebate and that’s just for Progressive, and so the commissioner is in negotiations with the other major auto insurers to do similar," DeSantis said. “(...) By the 1st of January you’ll have all these, but I don’t think there’s any reason to think these other companies are any different than Progressive. I think you’re going to see rebates, I think you’re going to see some checks, however they decide to do it.”
