Polk County fire kicks up enormous plumes of dark smoke Crews remain on scene, putting out hot spots No description found
BARTOW, Fla. – Several homes and businesses were in danger Sunday after a brush fire started to spread quickly in Polk County, officials said.
The blaze started just after 12:40 p.m. at 1712 Dawn Heights Drive, in Lakeland, according to a news release from Polk County Fire Rescue.
The incident was reported as an out-of-control brush fire. Officials were worried homes and businesses in the area would be destroyed.
Pipes in a grassy area at Wolseley Industrial Group caught fire, which caused enormous plumes of dark smoke to fill the sky, officials said.
No homes were destroyed.
