The incident occurred on Halloween.

Smith's girlfriend, Mary Gaspar, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. Gaspar is reportedly five months pregnant with Smith's child.

The Herald says the couple had been arguing in Smith's on-campus dorm room when Gaspar boiled the pot of water, and walked over and poured it on Smith.

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by the Herald, Gaspar began hitting Smith when he didn't react strongly enough.

Smith, a senior, finishes his FIU career fifth in receptions and third in touchdown catches with 17.
