Victim, person of interest missing after DeLand shooting, deputies say

VOLUSA COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities are searching for two people after a shooting in DeLand early Sunday.

Officials with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to 611 Margaret St. around 3:40 a.m. after reports that a verbal altercation led to a shooting in the area.

Deputies said the victim, Carlos Manzanares, 44, was no longer there when they arrived. 

Detectives said they interviewed a person of interest, Reinaldo Martinez, 69, but they are continuing to search for more information in the shooting.

Deputies said they are searching for Reinaldo Martinez Jr., 45, as another person of interest in the shooting. They added that it is believed he may be in the New Smyrna Beach area.

No other details were immediately released.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Manzanares or Martinez Jr. are asked to call 911.
