Viral video of Florida officer punching woman at UM game under investigation
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami-Dade Police Department is gathering information regarding a viral video showing one of its officers punching a woman being dragged out of Saturday night's University of Miami football game.
Video of the incident spread quickly overnight through social media.
The video begins with an unidentified woman being lifted up by multiple Miami-Dade officers and taken out of Hard Rock Stadium. When the woman attempts to slap one of the officers, the officer responds by punching her in the face.
It appears the woman is knocked out by the punch.
Miami-Dade police say they are aware of the incident.
"Will (sic) be gathering all of the details to gain a clear understanding of what occurred and properly assess the matter," Miami-Dade spokesperson Alvaro Zabaleta told Local 10 in a statement.
