Husband named person of interest after wife found dead in Volusia mobile home

Cops: Woman, 62, found dead in Ormond Beach home Saturday

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – The husband of a 62-year-old woman found dead inside a mobile home in Volusia County was named a person of interest Tuesday, Ormond Beach police said.

Officers said 72-year-old Donald Place, the husband of Debra Place, is being held by authorities in New York regarding a warrant unrelated to his wife's death.

The investigation into Debra Place's death began Saturday after she was found dead inside the couple's mobile home in Ormond Beach, police said.

Police said they went entered the home in Ridgecrest Mobile Home Park through a partially-open door and found Debra Place dead.

Officers said a dog was also found inside the home.

A Mercury station wagon used by the couple was missing from the home, police said.

Police Monday called Place's death suspicious, and said they had located and interviewed the person of interest in the woman's death.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information about Place's death is asked to call the Ormond Beach Police Department at 386-677-0731.
