Woman beaten with baseball bat during road rage incident, deputies say

Marcus Green charged with aggravated battery

PALM COAST, Fla. – A woman was beaten with a baseball bat and "slam dunked" to the ground during a road rage incident Monday afternoon in Palm Coast, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

The victim told deputies she was driving her black Ford Ranger on Landing Boulevard when the driver of a white Chevrolet Malibu ran a stop sign and then cut in front of her. She displayed her middle finger at the driver, who then stopped at a yield sign, stuck his head out the window and began yelling at her, deputies said.

The driver, Marcus Green, got out of his Malibu with a bat in his hand and stuck his head in the victim's driver's side window, according to a charging affidavit.

The victim said she pushed Green with her elbow to get him away from her vehicle. Green used a closed fist to hit the woman in the face, then walked back to his car to leave the area, deputies said.

The woman said she didn't want Green to get away, so she hit the back of his Malibu with her truck.

Green got out of his car, approached the victim again and started to hit her with the end of the baseball bat, according to the affidavit. He pulled the victim out of her truck and threw her to the ground as witnesses tried to stop the attack, deputies said.

Green told deputies that he hit the victim with his fist and "slam dunked" her to the ground. He denied using a baseball bat even though one was in plain view in his vehicle, the affidavit said. His girlfriend and two children were in the car during the incident.

Deputies said Green and his girlfriend tried to claim that the victim started the incident, but evidence proved otherwise.

The victim had cuts and bruises on her face and side and her shirt was ripped. Green said he had back pain and was taken to a hospital.

Green told deputies that the victim should be arrested because he said she tried to hit him with a car and he was just defending himself. The deputy told Green that the victim's injuries indicated more than just self-defense.

"Yeah, I kicked her (expletive)," Green replied, according to deputies.

Green is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
