Berries, Bike Week and ... beer-battered fish?

I’m not just saying things that start with “B,” like Brenda!

Hi, friends! It’s me (Brenda), back in your inbox for all the Central Florida Happenings.

There are quite a few outdoors events going on this weekend, including celebrations for peak strawberry season across Florida.

Here’s a list of places we put together last year of places you can visit to pick your own strawberries! I’ve never done it, so I might be putting this on my list for this next month 🍓.

But if you’re looking for things to do NOT involving strawberries, don’t worry. Here’s what’s happening ⤵️

Thundering Spirit Family Pow Wow in Mount Dora (Copyright 2024 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

Honor and celebrate the Native American culture with the Thundering Spirit Family Pow Wow in Mount Dora.

This weekend, artisans will be on hand as well as live performances by Aztec dancers, flute players, hoop dancing and more.

So, if you’d like to check out traditional Native American culture, don’t miss out!

A full schedule of events is planned for the three-day event. Click here to learn more.

All right. It really is kind of all about the berries.

The Florida Strawberry Festival is BACK in Plant City, kicking off today with live performances, rides and other attractions. And of course, fresh, juicy strawberries.

🍰 There will be tons to enjoy food-wise, including these interesting items that stuck out to me: strawberry brisket tacos and strawberry pizza. Yeah ... you read that right. Did I read that right?

This festival will run for 11 days, and you can snag discounted tickets near you if you’d like to check out the iconic event. Click here to learn more.

And more locally, here in Central Florida the Longwood Strawberry Festival will kick off Saturday afternoon with a kids zone, live music and more. Click here for info on that.

Variety of seafood (Pixabay)

From fried, steamed, grilled and more, seafood lovers can try a variety of “time honored recipes” at the Grant Seafood Festival in Brevard County this weekend.

According to the event website, all proceeds from the festival — which is run 100% by volunteers — will go toward the Grant Seafood Festival scholarship fund, Grant Community Library, Grant Historical House and The Grant Community Center.

Admission and parking are free, so you’ll just have to think about what you’re spending on food!

Here’s what else to expect.
