🤩 Who’s ready for Broadway?

SIX coming to the Dr. Phillips Center (Joan Marcus)

I am!

Hey, I’m News 6 producer Brooke Savage, the writer behind this Setting The Stage newsletter.

I have a lot to share with you!

Let’s take a look at what’s going on in Central Florida’s theatre and arts scene. ⤵

💨 See “Catch Me If You Can” right now!

Osceola Arts is concluding its 64th season with a Tony-nominated musical.

Based on the true story of Frank Abagnale, Jr., “Catch Me If You Can” tells the story of dreams, deception, and, of course, the art of the chase.

The musical follows Frank, a teenage runaway. He forges his way through life as a pilot, doctor, and lawyer, all while evading FBI agent Carl Hanratty.

The show runs through Aug. 3. Click here for ticket info.

🕶 Celebrities and tennis

Did you know the American Tennis Association is the oldest Black sports organization in the country?

This weekend, it’s hosting a Celebrity Pro-Am tournament. Actor Da’Vinchi, will be participating. He’s known for shows like BMF, “All American”, and “Grown-ish”. I had the chance to chat with him all about this weekend’s event.

By the way, apparently, he grew up in Ocala!

Are you excited for this year’s Broadway season?! I am.

A great lineup is coming to Orlando, Melbourne, and Daytona Beach. Right now, theatres are offering subscriptions for the 2025/2026 season.

The subscription at Dr. Phillip’s Center runs from $421 to $1,281. Sunday is the last day to buy the eight-show package.

For the King Center, the subscription for its four-show package starts at $255.

Daytona Beach’s Peabody Auditorium has a six-show lineup. So far, its website says subscriptions will go on sale later this summer. It did say you can join a waitlist to get notified.

A new partnership at the Orlando Museum of Art is allowing visitors with vision loss to use assistive technology on select days.

Right now, the devices will only be available during the Access for All days, which are days at the museum where people can go for free.

The next event will be Aug. 21. I posted the details on how the devices work and how they’re game changer for people with vision loss.
