Weâre right on schedule. The calendar flipped to August and just like that, weâre tracking a tropical wave from Africa.
Itâs truly too early to tell whatâs going on with this thing. Model guidance this far out and when the storm hasnât developed a well-defined center really canât be trusted.

Here are two things to watch.
- Where the storm develops.
- Where high pressure is about a week from now.
Model guidance continues to indicate a weakness in the steering ridge as the storm passes north of the Caribbean.
If that weakness comes to fruition and the ridge of high pressure retrogrades back west, there is a high potential that this storm will turn and stay out at sea.
Weâre just on watch mode right now. You can find more on the system by clicking here.
Either way, weâre likely looking at our first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season and it could be a strong one. Iâll keep you posted.
