I told you you would probably hear from me again this week. The good news is ‘Gabby’ is not a threat to the U.S.
It could make a close brush with Bermuda next week, though. It’s forecast to become the second hurricane of the 2025 hurricane season, but in the short term the storm will battle dry air and wind shear.

It’s barely a tropical system as of this writing Wednesday evening.
I would be interested to see if this actually becomes a hurricane as models have really been struggling this season.
At any rate, Gabrielle ends a no-formation stretch in the Atlantic since Aug. 24.
According to Dr. Phil Klotzbach of Colorado State University this is only the second time since 1940 that there have been no formations between then and Sept. 15. The other season was in 1992.
Behind Gabrielle, there are actually two more waves highlighted for possible tropical development.
Both have a low chance over the next seven days.
