ORLANDO, Fla. – This week on “Black Men Sundays,” host Corie Murray is back with Dr. Herbert Harris, a public speaker, author and former attorney who’s been with us on the show before.
Emphasizing the importance of tracking time and progress toward one’s goals rather than “sliding and gliding,” as he put it, the author of “The Twelve Universal Laws of Success" talked about mindsets, specifically about how to find the right one for tacking financial struggles.
“‘Broke’ is a word that I really dislike because broke is a state of mind. As long as you say, ‘I am broke,’ you create a broke vibration. The law of vibration says, ‘You attract what you feel,’” Harris said. “I like to look at the concept, ‘I am temporarily between funds,’ so this way, I may not have the money in my bank account, but I know in my spirit that the money’s on the way.”

Addressing the relationship between time and money, Harris reminds us that money can be replaced, but time cannot.
“One of the main things that we like to teach in the book is: ‘Money is a powerful servant but a terrible master,’ and so we want to work with people who say, ‘Hey, money is the tool that you can use to free up your time,’” he said, going on to give advice on how fear can be better used as a motivator than a barrier. “Fear is false evidence appearing real. Fear is not real. Fear is an emotional reaction (...) The way that you neutralize fear is to treat fear as a dress rehearsal for success.”
