ORLANDO, Fla. – This week on “Black Men Sundays,” host Corie Murray interviews Dr. Terry Spain, a 21-year U.S. Navy veteran and retired Chief Petty Officer who is now the CEO of Sports First Media and Terry Spain Consulting.
“I tell people that I prepared for this 10 years before I got out the military and it all consisted of me investing, consisted of me taking care of my health, my body, but also getting things documented if anything was ailing me while I was in the military, and that’s one of most important things that I tell folks,” Spain said, discussing life after military service.

Reflective of his passion for mentoring others, Spain also had advice for younger service members just starting out, whom he urged to focus on building generational wealth even if they have to start small.
“I wish I would have bought a house sooner. Being in the military, I’ve had the opportunity and the privilege to own a few homes. I wish I would’ve bought when I first joined, because 20-plus years later, you know, that’s definitely generational wealth, you don’t have to sell the house,” he said.
