Report: Phil, Kay Rawlins announce separation

News comes days after Orlando City president announced departure

ORLANDO, Fla. – News that Orlando City Soccer Club co-founders Phil and Kay Rawlins are separating was announced on social media Thursday, just two days after the soccer club revealed that Phil Rawlins would be stepping down as president, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Kay Rawlins wrote in her social media post that she will "remain dedicated to the club and the community" through her separation with Phil Rawlins and will stay in her current role as foundation president and vice president of community relations, the newspaper reported.

The news comes after Phil Rawlins announced Tuesday that he will move from president to club-life president, and CEO Alex Leitão will take over day-to-day operations. In his new role, Phil Rawlins will act as a team ambassador, remaining on the team and league boards.

The Sentinel reported that the separation prompted Phil Rawlins to scale back his duties with Orlando City.
