Local baseball star Logan Warmoth taken in first round of MLB draft

Lake Brantley grad is younger brother of News 6 anchor Justin Warmoth

ORLANDO, Fla. – Logan Warmoth, a Lake Brantley High School and University of North Carolina baseball standout and the brother of News 6 anchor Justin Warmoth, was selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft.

The Toronto Blue Jays on Monday chose the shortstop with the 22nd overall pick.

Warmoth hit .336 with 10 home runs and 34 extra base hits this past season at UNC.

"I can tell you first-hand, this guy worked his tail off, and it paid off," Justin Warmoth said of his younger brother.

Baseball writer Keith Law likes what he sees with Logan Warmoth, saying he has one of his favorite swings of all the players in the draft.
