ORLANDO, Fla. – Velton Brown grew up playing football in Orlando. Now in his 20s, the sport he loves has taken him all over the world.
A few years ago, Velton gave up tackle for flag football. The choice changed his life. He was just named to the U.S. Men’s National Flag Football team for the third time.

The versatile playmaker will complete with his 11 U.S. teammates in the 2025 IFAF Americas Continental Flag Football Championship in September in Panama.
Brown plays offense and defense, as a wide receiver and defensive back, but he tells Ryan Welch he’ll do anything to help Team USA earn victories.
“Offense, defense. You need me to throw, you need me to run past somebody, you need me to chase somebody. I’m your man,” Brown told News 6.
His ultimate goal is to make the 2028 U.S. team when flag football makes its Olympic debut in Los Angeles.
“This game just isn’t for the weak,” he said.
