ORLANDO, Fla. – Excitement filled the air Thursday as Universal’s Epic Universe officially opened its gates to the public along Kirkman Road, drawing thousands of guests eager to experience the highly anticipated theme park for the first time.
Visitors leaving the park expressed enthusiasm after taking in the new attractions.
“It was amazing! I loved all the rides. My favorite ride has to be Stardust Racers,” one person said. “It was pretty busy. Everyone is super hyped and having a good time. The coolest part was the fireworks, in my opinion.”

Others appreciated being part of the park’s opening-day history.
“They had some drinks out in the lobby, which was cool,” another person said. “It was just great to be part of something brand new.”
Epic Universe features more than 50 attractions across five immersive themed lands, including four roller coasters. The park was first announced by Universal in August 2019.
One guest said they had been anticipating the moment for years.
“My daughter and sons all grew up with it. We watched them build it,” she said. “To come here for the very first day is just amazing for us.”
The park’s debut is also creating economic ripples beyond the gates.
“It’s been very busy since this morning,” said one Uber driver working the area.
Drivers heading to the park are using the recently expanded section of Kirkman Road, which appears to be handling the increased traffic volume well.
“Traffic isn’t too bad. Everything seems to be flowing,” a person said. “Ever since they opened that new on-ramp, it’s been really good.”
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is urging drivers to give themselves plenty of time when traveling near the park, especially during peak hours.
Outside Epic Universe, traffic flowed smoothly throughout much of the day, with law enforcement monitoring the area.
