The NCAA has relaxed the amount of THC an athlete can have to trigger a positive test, and is recommending less-stringent penalties for athletes who do test positive for marijuana.

Spectators will not be required to wear masks or show proof of their vaccination status to attend matches at the U.S. Open when the tennis tournament returns at full capacity next week.

The governing body said Friday it is permitting 25% capacity at the men's tournament venues to allow for social distancing. On the women's side, the NCAA will allow a capacity of up to 17% at each venue from the Sweet 16 to the Final Four. The NCAA had previously announced the 68-team tournament will be played entirely in Indiana because of the pandemic, with most games in Indianapolis.

The Big Ten won't play football this fall because of concerns about COVID-19, becoming the first of college sports' power conferences to yield to the pandemic. Much of the fall college sports season has been canceled, with conferences hoping to make up competitions, including football, in the spring. The NCAA has no jurisdiction over major college football, so the conferences have been left to make their own calls. Six leagues, including the Atlantic Coast Conference, Southeastern Conference and Big 12, are moving forward with plans to play in the fall.
