Under Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, Florida has executed more people so far this year than any other state, setting a new state record.

Edward Zakrzewski was executed Thursday evening for the 1994 murders of his wife and two children in their Okaloosa County home, as Florida set a modern-era record for executions in a year.

Florida has carried out a record ninth execution this year, putting to death a man convicted of killing his wife and their two children decades ago.

Continuing to quickly order executions, Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday signed a death warrant for a man convicted of killing three people in 1992 in Orange County.
