A 18-year-old man who was 16 when he was charged as an adult in a spring break gun scare on New Smyrna Beach has been sentenced to eight years in prison, according to the office of State Attorney R.J. Larizza.

Deputies were patrolling that area of the beach around 3:45 p.m. near Flagler Avenue, which is when they heard the crowd yelling.
