City council members unanimously agreed to pursue the reimbursement and set a January deadline for Kroger to return the “incentives it received to establish a grocery distribution center at Ford Commerce Park.”

Three weeks after Kroger announced it plans to pull out of Groveland, a CareerSource job fair is being held at the soon-to-be closed fulfillment center.

Lake County released a statement Friday that grocery company Kroger signed the termination agreement the county initiated last week. As part of the deal, the company must reimburse the county $460,714.53 by Dec. 31.

The county had provided more than $1.3 million in incentives to Kroger and Ocado to support the facility, which employs some 1,400 people who are expected to be laid off.
