Big league baseball players increased their potential war chest of cash and investments ahead of collective bargaining to $415 million heading into 2026, up from $284 million at the start of 2025, according to the union’s annual federal disclosure form filed.

Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred canceled 93 more games, appearing to cut off the chance to play a full 162-game schedule and threatening locked out players with loss of salary and service time.

Whatever little chance there was of an on-time start to spring training all but vanished during a contentious 90-minute negotiating session between locked out players and Major League Baseball.
