Police say the shooting at Florida State University that left two dead and wounded six others lasted less than five minutes.

Florida State has canceled all home athletic events through the weekend after an on-campus shooting Thursday left two dead and at least six others injured.

After receiving warnings of an active shooter, students and faculty across the campus were locked down in classrooms and sheltered in offices and dorm rooms.

Police say a man believed to be a Florida State University student opened fire on campus, killing two people and wounding at least six others before he was shot and wounded by responding officers.
