Officials say one person was killed and 14 others injured in a gas explosion and fires at the top of a 17-story New York City apartment building.

New York fire officials say three people died early Easter Sunday morning in a fire that tore through a crowded Queens home with no evidence of a working smoke detector.

One person has been killed and five have been injured in a parking garage collapse in lower Manhattan’s Financial District.
