Preliminary data from the 2025 US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s required annual census of homeless people in Marion County, which is taken on one day and is known as the PIT, or Point in Time count, has been released by the city of Ocala.

Police identified the man as 48-year-old Jeremiah Bailey, who struck multiple pedestrians with his car at various locations in South Tampa on Sunday, killing one and injuring three.

The Homeless Services Network of Central Florida says the number of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties rose 86% from 2023 to 2024.
