Lake County commissioners have approved a new noise ordinance aimed at restoring peace at Silver Glen Springs, one of the county’s most popular natural attractions.

Residents living near Silver Glen Springs have been fighting for months to keep boating around the springs.

In a meeting that was well over capacity, hundreds of people packed tightly together inside the Astor Community Association Thursday to weigh in on the future use of the Silver Glen Springs.

Boating enthusiasts around Silver Glen Springs are concerned about the potential loss of anchoring privileges in the area.

USFS officials on Friday explained that the Florida Department of Health uncovered these findings, prompting action by the USFS.

Boating activists around Astor are worried they may not be able to enjoy anchoring in Silver Glen Springs too much longer. The Florida Fish and Wildlife commission told News 6 it received a request to create a 'Springs Protection Zone' in Silver Glen.
