A U.S. Senate committee has advanced a candidate openly supportive of President Donald Trump to be inspector general for the Department of Health and Human Services.

President Donald Trump has nominated a Republican attorney who was once accused of mishandling taxpayer funds and who has a history of launching investigations against abortion clinics to lead the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General.
