As students in Volusia County prepare to return to class, a new layer of security is being added to help keep them safe: artificial intelligence that detects guns on campus.

Volusia County Schools purchased and activated an artificial intelligence-powered security system called ZeroEyes, which is now active in all Volusia secondary schools with plans to expand.

The system, called ZeroEyes, can detect firearms through cameras before any shots are fired. While several school districts in Central Florida already use it, Daytona Beach will be one of the first cities in the area to have it.
