1 killed, 2 seriously injured in 4-vehicle crash on I-95 in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash on an I-95 exit ramp to I-4 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened Tuesday night before 9 p.m. at mile marker 260.

According to a crash report, a 20-year-old DeLand man driving a 2001 Ford Mustang switched lanes and hit the right side of a 2012 Dodge Charger at the exit ramp. The two vehicles then went across the travel lanes and the Dodge Charger struck a guardrail.

At the same time, a 2024 International truck and a semi-tractor-trailer were heading west on the I-4 exit ramp to I-95.

The front of the International truck struck the back of the Ford Mustang, causing the truck to hit a guardrail. The semi-tractor-trailer swerved to avoid hitting the Dodge Charger, but it ended up hitting the Ford Mustang, the crash report said.

The Ford Mustang passenger, a 34-year-old Deltona woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Charger, a 48-year-old Daytona Beach woman, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The other two drivers were uninjured.

An investigation is ongoing.
