APOPKA, Fla. – Today on Trooper Steve on Patrol, Results-1 heads to Apopka for a conversation with the city’s new police chief and it’s a historic one.
Lovetta Quinn-Henry has officially taken the helm as the 16th police chief of the Apopka Police Department, becoming the first woman in the city’s history to hold the position. That also makes her the highest-ranking female leader Apopka has ever had, a milestone not just for the department, but for the community as a whole.
Quinn-Henry brings more than 25 years of law-enforcement experience to the role, including a long career with the Orlando Police Department. But what makes this appointment especially meaningful is that her story begins right here. She is a true Apopka native and a graduate of Apopka High School, making this a full-circle moment as she returns home to lead the agency responsible for protecting the city she grew up in.
