Gopher Tortoise | Everyday Wild with Joey Manna

Come celebrate Endangered Species Day with me and one of Florida’s most important roommates: the gopher tortoise 🐢 I went to some prime tortoise habitat with Katherine Saylor from @DefendersOfWildlife learning why these little dirt-tanks are a keystone species their burrows can support hundreds of other animals. Basically, they don’t just live here… they run the neighborhood. And here’s the wild part: you don’t always have to drive hours into “the wilderness” to find wildlife. Sometimes it’s right under our feet so protecting their homes starts looking a lot like protecting ours.
