First, Florida currently has the right ingredients for fog, including clear skies overnight, high dew points, calm winds and plenty of saturated air.

  1. This occurs overnight when the heat of the day radiates from the surface
  2. As it lifts, it begins to cool and condenses into fog
  3. Depending on how cool the air is above the warm surface, the fog could deepen and create a thick layer

Dense fog advisories are issued when fog drops visibility to less than a quarter-mile.
