ORLANDO, Fla. – After a much warmer start to our Friday morning, with temperatures staying in the 50s and 60s, it’s easy to tell that the warming trend has begun across Central Florida.

At the surface, Florida remains controlled by a high-pressure system over the western Atlantic, which will allow our next front to get closer to Florida later this weekend.

For Friday a light easterly wind will increase cloud cover, keeping rain chances limited. A few isolated showers can’t be ruled out along the coast, which is why the rain chances sit at 10-20% through the afternoon.

When it comes to our temperatures, expect highs to max out in the upper 70s.

By the weekend, moisture will be on the rise with the highest threat by Sunday (50-60%) ahead of our next strong cold front.

The greatest potential for strong storms will be for areas along and to the north of I-4. The main weather hazards will be wind gusts up to 50-60mph, heavy rainfall, and lightning.

Along with rain, the winds will kick up, with gusts up to 20-25 mph Sunday afternoon, especially along the coast.

Ahead of the front, temperatures will warm from the upper 70s to low 80s on Saturday and Sunday.

Models are in good agreement that the cold front will move quickly southeast across Central Florida into early Monday. Dry air will filter in behind the front with gusts of 15-20 mph through the afternoon with temperatures dropping fast.

Highs on Monday will remain in the low 60s with overnight lows dipping into the 40s.
